Despite their strong stance against the hybrid model, PCB recently announced their acceptance for the matches including India to be played at neutral locations. However, their acceptance comes with some demands and conditions. Above everything else, PCB wants ICC to stretch this hybrid model until 2031, allowing Pakistan to play their matches at a neutral location for the events hosted in India. To much surprise of the fans and critics, BCCI has downright rejected the model.
While the PCB’s acceptance of a hybrid model was finally easing the way for Champions Trophy 2025, BCCI’s refusal of the proposal has once again put the tournament onto a hanging thread.
With the back-and-forth agreements and refusals, ICC struggles to give the final verdict on the Champions Trophy 2025. Reportedly, they have called for an official board meeting to finalize the venue for the Champions Trophy 2025. Also, there is news that ICC has barred BCCI from the hosting rights of the Blind Men’s Cricket World Cup. It is in response to India not allowing their team to travel to Pakistan for the Women’s Cricket World Cup.
Thence, there are chances that ICC might make a strong decision about the Champion Trophy’s hosting rights in response to the constant chaos caused by Pakistan’s and India’s Cricket Boards. We can only hope that we get to witness the finest display of cricket and that the tournament occurs fighting away all the drama.
