This year in 2025 The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken a very good decision of increasing the prize money of ICC Men’s Champions Trophy.
It has decided to increase upto $6.9 million which is almost 53% more from the 2017 champions trophy.
The International Cricket Council has made a full plan of the distribution of the prize money
It has decided that the champion team will get $.2.24 million , the runner up team will get $ 1.12 million , each of the two semi-finalists will be awarded $560,000, the teams which are in fifth and sixth places will receive $350,000, the teams which are in seventh or eighth places will get $140,000 each and all the eight participating teams will get $125,000 for their participation .
The International Cricket Council wants to motivate teams to perform well throughout the tournament by giving this huge prize structure .
The 2025 ICC Men’s Champions Trophy is going to be held after an 8 year break from February 19 to March 9, 2025. In this champions trophy eight ODI nations are going to participate in 15 matches .
Pakistan is going to host for the first time since 1996. The matches will be held in Lahore , Karachi and Rawalpindi and the final match will be held in Lahore .
Due to some political issues some games in which India is included will be played in Dubai , United Arab Emirates.
It has also decided that all the participating teams will be divided into two groups of four from which the top two teams from every group will go to the semi-finals .
The purpose of increasing the prize money of champions trophy by ICC is to raise the Champion’s trophy reputation and the level of competition .
This will increase the interest of players to perform well in the competition.
This program also represents the ICC’s plan to maintain the continued growth and viability of the sport. This also promises that the Champions Trophy will always be a zealful event for many years to come .
