Ahead of the Champions Trophy, changes in India’s bowling attack is confusing the Indian Fans and Cricket Experts. India’s one of the finest bowlers Muhammad Siraj has been excluded from the squad.

This news has received mixed reactions from the fans. Muhammad Siraj, who was the second highest wicket taker in Border Gavaskar Trophy 2025 after Bumrah and has given great performances for Team India in the past, has been dropped from the squad.

Arshdeep has been included in the squad in his place and Harshit Rana has been selected as a backup player in case Jasprit Bumrah isn’t able to play.

According to Captain Rohit Sharma, Muhammad Shami was only effective with the new ball and that they were looking for someone who can offer variety, who can bowl with the new ball, can bowl in the middle and also can perform in death overs.

Arshdeep brought variety to the table that’s why he was picked instead of Muhammad Siraj. However, this move has been majorly criticized by Indian legends and experts.

Jasprit Bumrah got injured in the last Test of Border Gavaskar Trophy and wasn’t able to bowl in the second innings. Similarly, Muhammad Shami has been injured and is coming back from an injury.

These two main Indian bowlers are coming from an injury and might take time in getting back to the form. In such a situation, Muhammad Siraj could have helped bring stability to the team but him being dropped, Indian Team might face difficulty in pace attack.

Muhammad Siraj was No.1 ODI Player in 2023 and has played IPL in UAE. His performance in Asia Cup Final lead Team India to a comfortable victory against Sri Lanka in Asia Cup.

Arshdeep is also a very talented bowler but replacing in-form Muhammad Siraj would be difficult for both him and Team India in the upcoming champion’s trophy 2025.
