In the last ODI world cup 2023, Afghanistan’s team performance was very impressive as they were able to beat England and were considered a strong team.

They even brought the World Champion Australia in a very difficult situation, although Glen Maxwell’s heroics got them out of that situation but Afghanistanhas been amazing since then.

They have also qualified for the semi-final in the T20 worldcup in 2024. Ajay Jadeja was the ODI Team’s coach at the time of worldcup when it was being played in India.

It was expected that he will be mentoring Afghanistan team in Champions Trophy as well, however, Afghanistan’s Cricket Board has been looking at the scenario differently.

They have appointed 47- year old Pakistani, Great Batsmen Younis Khan, as their mentor. They have said in a statement that the upcoming champions trophy will held in Pakistan so they were looking for a coach who was familiar with the local conditions.

Younis Khan is someone who has played 265 ODI matches for Pakistan and is familiar with the situation. His addition to the team will bring great insights as he is very familiar with the local conditions.

Younus Khan has played 265 ODIs, 118 Tests and 25 T20s. He has wonWorld T20 Cup for Pakistan and is a very experienced and talented player.

He has been associated with PCB but later parted ways due to various reasons Younus  was also a batting coach of Afghanistan Team for a 15 days training camp in UAE in the year 2022.

Afghanistan is in group B with Australia, England and South Africa. Their first match is to be played on 21st February against South Africa in National Stadium Karachi.

With Younus Khan as their coach and their talented players, Afghanistan’s Cricket Team would surely be a treat to watch out during this tournament.
